Peregrines in Northern England

Sheffield peregrine webcams and winter watching around the Humber.

Sheffield

The University of Sheffield's peregrine webcam project provides a public way to follow the birds. Read its notices alongside the video: feeds can pause, and footage may not show the full site.

Use the camera for nest views. It does not grant access to university roofs or restricted grounds. If visiting the area, follow local signs and remain in public space. Do not use a drone or seek an elevated position near the birds.

Winter watching at Spurn

The Wildlife Trusts' birds-of-prey guide includes Spurn Point in Yorkshire as a place where peregrines may hunt winter flocks. This is a different outing from a cathedral camera: expect open landscapes, distant birds and time spent scanning.

Check Yorkshire Wildlife Trust's current Spurn visitor advice before setting out, especially route conditions and any closures. Bring layers and choose a sheltered, permitted place to watch. A reserve's species list is not a report that a peregrine is present today.

Keep your expectations flexible

An urban camera can show detail even when an outdoor bird would be hidden. A winter reserve visit may produce only a brief flight view. Take the identification guide and leave room in your notes for uncertainty.
